A key aide of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar praised the Union budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, stating that it meets the demand for special assistance considering the practical difficulties in granting special status.
State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary expressed hope that the budget outlay of Rs 26,000 crore would boost growth across various sectors. 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union finance minister deserve commendation for addressing Bihar's concerns,' he told reporters.
Contrastingly, senior RJD leader Kumar Sarvajeet criticized the budget, stating that the special status was necessary for real development. He emphasized the need for improved facilities for the poorest, such as education and jobs, and was skeptical of budget promises like infrastructure projects in Gaya and Nalanda.
