Abhishek Banerjee Criticizes Modi Government’s Budget

Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee criticized the 2024-25 budget as being anti-people and aimed at appeasing coalition partners. He claimed the NDA government has neglected the majority of the Indian populace while favoring only two states. Banerjee asserted that the 2024 elections reflect a rejection of BJP's divisive politics.

Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for leading a ''creaky, shaky and vulnerable'' coalition government, accusing it of prioritizing only two states in the budget while neglecting the rest of the country.

During the discussion on Budget 2024-25, Banerjee labeled the budget as ''anti-people'' and designed to appease coalition partners. Amid repeated disruptions by BJP members, Banerjee stated, ''The budget has no vision and agenda. It offers no relief to the common people and has ignored the needs of 140 crore citizens.''

Banerjee further claimed the 2024 general elections' results are a repudiation of the BJP's ''arrogance and divisive politics.'' He criticized the Modi government for failing to keep promises, including job creation and tackling black money, adding that the coalition will soon collapse. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy countered, stating Banerjee's accusations were more applicable to the West Bengal government.
