In a rally in Galle, the 75-year-old leader confirmed his participation by stating, 'I declare that I will contest the presidential election having already paid my deposit to do so.'
Despite previous uncertainty due to the weakened state of his United National Party (UNP), Wickremesinghe emphasized his commitment and sought public support, referencing his efforts in navigating the nation's economic turmoil that led to the downfall of the Rajapaksa family in 2022.
