Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda declared on Saturday that the Congress will persist in advocating for the establishment of an Ahir regiment in the Indian Army at every available platform.

Hooda assured that if Congress ascends to power in Haryana in the forthcoming assembly elections, a proposal for the regiment's creation will be submitted to the Centre.

'The demand for the Ahir regiment hails not just from south Haryana, but from across the entire nation,' Hooda stated. He pointed out the Ahirwal belt's significant contributions to India's defense forces and commended previous Congress governments for infrastructural and educational developments in south Haryana.

With Haryana Congress President Chaudhary Udaibhan and other prominent Congress leaders by his side, Hooda addressed party workers and underscored promises of welfare measures including pensions for the elderly, free electricity, and transparent recruitment for vacant posts.

Hooda also fiercely criticized the current BJP government, accusing it of dismantling educational institutions and implementing exploitative employment policies.
