Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has sharply criticized the BRS government, accusing it of widespread corruption during its tenure. He questioned the BRS's transparency and challenged them to conduct a probe into allegations surrounding schemes like Bathukamma sarees distribution and KCR kits.
During a legislative assembly debate on the state budget for 2024-25, Reddy also vowed to expand the Metro rail network to the old city of Hyderabad within the next four years. He alleged that a toll collection contract for Hyderabad's Outer Ring Road, valued much higher, was unfairly awarded for just over Rs 7,000 crore.
Reddy highlighted a potential scam in the sheep distribution scheme, with detected irregularities worth around Rs 700 crore, and criticized the quality of sarees distributed for the Bathukamma festival. He also underscored the necessity of further investigations into these schemes and projects, urging transparency and accountability.
