Opposition councillors on Monday stormed into the MCD House, protesting the deaths at a Rajinder Nagar coaching centre and demanding the resignation of the mayor and Delhi Chief Minister.
The uproar, driven by BJP and Congress councillors, led to the adjournment of the House before it could start, amid slogans and posters against the AAP-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
Following the adjournment, BJP councillors staged a protest at the agency headquarters, pressing for the mayor to reconvene the House and calling for an inquiry into the deaths.
A heavy police presence was noted at the Civic Centre, underscoring the escalation in tensions. The tragedy involved the death of three UPSC aspirants after severe flooding in the basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle in central Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar due to torrential rains on Saturday.
