Defence Minister Rajanth Singh on Monday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of misleading the nation on sensitive national security issues and the Agnipath initiative, emphasizing his readiness to address the matter in Parliament.
Addressing the Lok Sabha after Gandhi's remarks on the Union Budget, Singh highlighted that the opposition leader had spread several misconceptions about the budget. He mentioned that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would clarify these points during the budget debate.
Refuting Gandhi's claims regarding the compensation for Agniveers, Singh clarified that more than Rs 1 crore is provided to the family of an Agniveer who dies in active service, including insurance and ex-gratia payments. Officials noted that the scheme ensures comprehensive financial support, with the government covering insurance premiums.
