In a heated political confrontation, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has issued a challenge to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging him to reveal the truth behind the serious allegations leveled by former state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. Deshmukh has accused Fadnavis of coercing him into falsely implicating Uddhav and Aaditya Thackeray in legal proceedings.
Deshmukh, who spent several months in jail following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in 2021 on money laundering charges, claims he was under pressure to submit affidavits against prominent political figures. According to Patole, Fadnavis's recent statements about possessing audio and video evidence suggest an attempt to intimidate political rivals ahead of elections.
Patole demanded that Fadnavis take action against Deshmukh if he believes him to be guilty, emphasizing the need for clarity amidst the confusion in the state. Meanwhile, Fadnavis has denied the allegations, asserting that any personal accusations against him will not be tolerated and indicating he has compromising material that could be released in due course.
