In a heated session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took aim at Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav, noting his disappointment in not being appointed as Leader of Opposition. Adityanath congratulated Mata Prasad Pandey on his appointment while making pointed remarks about Shivpal being 'ditched' by his nephew, SP President Akhilesh Yadav.
Shivpal Singh Yadav hit back, suggesting that Adityanath himself might face rejection in the upcoming 2027 elections, indicating a potential rift within the ruling party. Shivpal stated, 'I did not face 'gaccha', Pandey ji is very senior and we are socialists,' and also recalled past interactions with Adityanath.
SP member Sangram Singh Yadav raised objections to Adityanath's use of the word 'gaccha', deeming it unparliamentary. Despite the protest, Speaker Satish Mahana remarked that such exchanges are part and parcel of political discourse. The session underscored the underlying tension and shifting alliances in Uttar Pradesh's political landscape.
