In a sharp escalation of political tensions, opposition leaders have strongly condemned BJP MP Anurag Thakur for his remarks about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Parliament. The criticism was spearheaded by Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Shivpal Yadav, who underscored that Thakur's comments were of a personal nature and merited strict action.
Speaking to ANI, Yadav contended, 'When we sought a caste census, it addressed societal issues. In contrast, the personal remark made about Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha demands accountability, especially from the Speaker.' He further pointed out the double standards, noting that similar comments by opposition members would result in immediate reprimand or removal from the House.
Reinforcing this sentiment, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi called Thakur's statements 'condemnable,' criticizing the agenda of those who, she said, seek to politically shape the nation to their convenience. Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury added her voice, suggesting Thakur's words reveal a 'weak foundation' of values and mindset in the BJP camp.
