The Karnataka government strongly advised Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to withdraw the show cause notice issued to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the MUDA site allotment 'scam'. The Council of Ministers condemned the notice as a 'gross misuse of the Constitutional Office' aimed at destabilizing the Congress government.
The notice followed a petition by advocate-activist T J Abraham, with the governor demanding a response from the chief minister within seven days to justify why prosecution should not be allowed. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar criticized the governor for ignoring Abraham's criminal background during a five-hour meeting.
Shivakumar termed the notice a 'murder of democracy', alleging central government involvement in pressuring the governor. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah consulted legal and political advisors, arguing that procedural norms were ignored and affirming that there is no substantive case for prosecution.
