The ruling Congress in Karnataka initiated a six-day protest in Bidadi, Ramanagara district, on Friday, decrying alleged injustices by the central government. The rally also targets corruption claims during BJP and JD(S) administrations.
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who doubles as the Congress state president, led the agitation called 'Janandolana', riding pillion in a motorcycle rally. The movement aims to spotlight tax divulsion issues and efforts to destabilise the current Congress government.
The protests come amid tension surrounding a show-cause notice issued to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by the Karnataka Governor over the MUDA scam. The Congress state unit has mandated participation from all senior leaders and elected officials in this demonstration.
