A 24-year-old firefighter has tragically died after being struck by a falling tree while combating a forest fire northeast of Jasper, Alberta. The RCMP confirmed that the Calgary resident, associated with the Rocky Mountain House Fire Base, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

The wildfire crisis has severely impacted Jasper, with nearly a third of the town's structures destroyed by a blaze that saw flames reaching up to 330 feet. Currently, 120 active wildfires are raging across Alberta.
