Uddhav Thackeray, the head of Shiv Sena (UBT) and former Maharashtra chief minister, is set to embark on a three-day visit to New Delhi starting Tuesday. His visit aims to meet leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc, as confirmed by party MP Sanjay Raut on Monday.
This visit marks Thackeray's first return to the national capital after the recent Lok Sabha elections. During a press briefing in Delhi, Raut mentioned, 'It is a dialogue tour. Leaders from the Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Aam Aadmi Party will be meeting him. Additionally, Ramesh Chennithala, All India Congress Committee in-charge of Maharashtra, will hold discussions with Thackeray. Uddhavji will also interact with Marathi and national media representatives in the capital.'
The Lok Sabha elections earlier this year saw Shiv Sena (UBT) winning 9 out of the 48 seats in Maharashtra. The Congress and NCP (SP), part of the INDIA alliance, secured 14 and 8 seats, respectively. The Maharashtra assembly elections, with a total of 288 seats, are scheduled for October this year.
