The United States is closely monitoring the unfolding chaos in Bangladesh following the resignation and departure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. White House National Security Council spokesperson emphasized the need for a democratic and inclusive interim government.
Prime Minister Hasina fled Bangladesh in a military aircraft amid escalating anti-government protests that have claimed over 300 lives. In response, the Bangladesh Army, led by General Waqar-uz-Zaman, has stepped in to fill the power vacuum.
In a televised address, General Zaman assured the nation of taking full responsibility and urged cooperation. The US has commended the Army for its restraint, urging all parties to cease violence and restore peace. The NSC spokesperson expressed deep concern for the casualties and called for credible investigations into the attacks.
