Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Tuesday expressed confidence that a change in the government was inevitable after the upcoming assembly elections. Pointing to Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray's three-day Delhi visit starting Tuesday, Patole stated that the former Maharashtra chief minister will engage with Congress leadership in the national capital.
Patole emphasized that discussions will revolve around strategizing to overthrow the ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra. Thackeray is scheduled to confer with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to discuss the prevailing political climate in the state.
He further clarified that seat-sharing talks concerning the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which includes Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP), will occur in Mumbai, not Delhi. The assembly elections in Maharashtra are likely scheduled for October this year. Addressing reporters, Patole assured that party members who violated the whip during recent legislative council elections will face consequences. Criticizing the Eknath Shinde-led government's policies, he also highlighted taxpayer opposition to the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme.
