Donald Trump announced on Thursday his proposal for three presidential debates to be aired on three major television networks, amid the ongoing election campaign dynamics. This announcement comes as Trump's first public appearance since Kamala Harris was announced as the Democratic presidential nominee, with Tim Walz as her running mate.

Trump claimed agreements with Fox News, ABC News, and NBC News for the debates, although Harris' campaign has yet to accept the proposed terms. 'I think it's very important to have debates,' Trump stated. 'I look forward to the debates because I think we have to set the record straight.'

Trump had hinted earlier in the week that an announcement was imminent and had originally suggested a Fox News-hosted debate. The situation follows Biden's withdrawal from his re-election bid, which Trump linked to his criticism of Harris for lack of media engagement since entering the race.
