The Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA) has formally appealed to Bangladesh's interim government to guarantee the safety and working environment of journalists and media outlets.
This plea follows a spate of serious physical attacks and intimidation against journalists in the nation.
In a letter addressed to interim leader Mohammed Yunus, the CJA called for prompt action to restore law and order, emphasizing that a free media protected by law is vital for a healthy democracy.
''We appeal to you to take prompt and effective steps to restore the rule of law in these cases, and to ensure that all journalists in Bangladesh enjoy freedom of movement and protection from acts of violence,'' the letter stated.
