Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar dismissed the reports of potential talks between BRS and BJP for a possible alliance. During an informal interaction with media personnel, he labeled the BRS as an outdated party.
Speculation had arisen following the arrest of BRS MLC K Kavitha in connection with alleged irregularities in the scrapped Delhi excise policy and BRS's poor performance in the Lok Sabha polls. The party also lost power in Telangana during the last Legislative Assembly elections.
Responding to allegations and future political maneuvers, Sanjay Kumar stated that Congress and BJP would be the main contenders in the forthcoming local body elections in Telangana. He criticized the current state government for not providing funds to panchayats, claiming rural local bodies are surviving on central funds.
Addressing the opposition to the Waqf (amendment) bill by AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, Sanjay Kumar questioned the safeguarding of Waqf lands and the distribution of these lands to poor Muslims.
On the matter of leadership within the Telangana BJP unit, he mentioned that any decisions would come from the party's central leadership, amidst speculation about appointing a new state president.
At a subsequent event, 'LokManthan Bhagyanagar-2024,' he praised the initiative for promoting Indian values amid challenges to Indian culture and traditions.
