In a significant diplomatic move, India's Deputy National Security Advisor Pavan Kapoor held talks with Andriy Yermak, top aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in Kyiv. The primary agenda was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's planned visit to Ukraine later this month.
According to a statement from Kyiv, Yermak underscored the need for ''just peace'' for Ukraine and emphasized the importance of India's involvement in achieving it. He expressed optimism that Modi would contribute to this crucial effort.
During the meeting, Yermak provided updates on the situation at the frontline and the recent shelling of civilian infrastructure by Russian forces. The discussions also covered Modi's impending trip to Kyiv and possibly Poland, aligning with renewed global efforts for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict. Although official confirmation is pending, Modi is expected to visit Kyiv around Ukraine's National Day, August 24.
