Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury took aim at the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government in West Bengal, following the tragic death of a female trainee doctor. He condemned the state administration for its indecisive handling of the case, highlighting a deteriorating law and order situation and alleging government complicity in aiding the accused.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury expressed her concern over the incident, stressing that such events should be prevented and that doctors' safety must be ensured. Chowdhury declared that the expectations of common people should never be shattered and stood firmly in solidarity with the medical community. She noted Mamata Banerjee's commitment to ordering a CBI inquiry if arrests were not made by Sunday.

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday mandated a CBI investigation into the sexual assault and murder of the post-graduate trainee at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. The Court instructed Kolkata Police to immediately hand over all pertinent documents for the investigation.

In a related development, the Calcutta High Court directed former principal of RG Kar Medical College, Sandip Ghosh, to submit a leave application following his appointment at Calcutta National Medical College, an appointment that had sparked protests. Several PILs concerning the matter were also being reviewed by the Chief Justice division bench of the Calcutta HC.

The victim was found dead in RG Kar Medical College's seminar hall, with investigation confirming rape and murder. The deceased bore signs of a struggle, including scratch marks. Allegations from the victim's family indicated that she was raped before being murdered.
