The final date to file nominations is August 21, with scrutiny scheduled for August 22. August 26 is the deadline for candidates to withdraw their names. Polling will take place on September 3, from 9 am to 4 pm, and results will be declared the same day.

This seat became vacant after BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia took office following his Lok Sabha election victory from Guna. Rajya Sabha members are elected by legislative assembly MLAs through the single transferable vote (STV) system. Given the BJP's majority in the assembly, their candidate is poised for an easy win, although the party has yet to announce a nominee. In the 230-member Madhya Pradesh House, BJP holds 163 seats, Congress 64, and Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) 1, with two seats currently vacant.
