Rizwan Arshad, a Karnataka Congress legislator, has expressed serious concern over political instability and reported atrocities against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. On Wednesday, he urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider decisive military actions similar to those taken by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1971.
In his letter to Modi, Arshad, who represents the Shivajinagar Assembly constituency in Bengaluru, highlighted the need for proactive measures to address not only the plight of minorities in Bangladesh but also in India, who he claims are under constant economic and social attacks by right-wing groups.
Arshad stressed the historical and cultural ties between India and Bangladesh, urging immediate engagement with the Bangladeshi government to ensure the protection of Hindu minorities. He also called for verification of the reports and videos circulating on social media and demanded firm action if they prove to be true.
