Israel's negotiating team has expressed cautious optimism about the prospect of moving forward with a Gaza hostage deal, according to a statement issued on Saturday by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office.

The team conveyed this cautious optimism to the prime minister regarding the potential to advance a deal based on the latest American proposal, which draws from the May 27th framework, the statement said.

The Prime Minister's Office also expressed hope that substantial pressure from the U.S. and international mediators on the Palestinian militant group Hamas will overcome its resistance to the American proposal and pave the way for a breakthrough.
