Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Tuesday lauded the Narendra Modi government for reaffirming its commitment to Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs). This comes after the government asked the UPSC to withdraw its advertisement for lateral entry into the bureaucracy.
Addressing a press conference, Paswan criticized the Congress-led opposition for targeting the ruling NDA while failing to fill up reserved posts during their tenure. He thanked Prime Minister Modi, on behalf of his Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), for seeking the cancellation of lateral entry and urged future governments to show similar sensitivity to public sentiments.
Paswan also highlighted his party's support for the Bharat Bandh called by SC and ST groups in protest of a recent Apex Court judgement on reservations. He emphasized the ongoing social and educational challenges faced by Dalits, citing instances of Dalit grooms being prevented from riding horses during weddings.
