The BJP on Sunday commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing a unified pension scheme for central government employees. Senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized the Congress for not fulfilling its promise to restore the old pension scheme in states it governs, including Himachal Pradesh.
Speaking at a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Prasad slammed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for accusing the Centre of making a 'U-turn.' He emphasized that Prime Minister Modi makes decisions in the public interest after thorough consideration, contrasting this with what he termed Congress' 'ad-hocism.'
Prasad accused the Congress of exploiting the old pension scheme as a political issue, particularly targeting Rahul Gandhi for making false promises. He praised Modi for being attentive to employees' concerns and criticized the Congress for lacking the courage to include the pension scheme in its Lok Sabha poll manifesto.
