Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk revealed on Wednesday that the 2025 state budget would include unprecedented spending on defense. Tusk described the budget as "generous" and instrumental in spurring further economic growth.
The Prime Minister specified that 186 billion zlotys (USD 48.5 billion) will be allocated to bolster national defense. This move comes amid ongoing security concerns due to the war in neighboring Ukraine. Tusk emphasized that the defense spending, which has surged from over 4 percent of GDP in 2024, is irreversible.
Deputy Defense Minister Stanislaw Wziatek stated that next year's defense expenditure will reach 4.7 percent of GDP. Poland continues to lead NATO and the EU in defense investments, particularly in military equipment sourced from the US and South Korea. The nation's economic growth is projected to be 3.9 percent next year.
