British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is under investigation for breaching parliamentary rules by failing to declare gifts from a wealthy businessman and Labour Party donor. The gifts included high-end clothes for his wife, as reported by the Sunday Times.
Starmer, who has been in power since July, reportedly did not disclose that Labour donor Waheed Alli paid for a personal shopper, clothes, and alterations for his wife. While other donations from Alli were properly declared, this particular instance was not included in the premier's registered financial interests.
A spokesperson from 10 Downing Street stated that Starmer and his team had sought compliance advice upon assuming office and believed they were in accordance with regulations. However, following a recent review, additional items were disclosed. The Conservative Party has called for a full investigation into what they termed 'apparent serious breaches of parliamentary rules.'
