Donald Trump is safe after a shooting incident outside his Florida golf club. Law enforcement sources confirmed that Trump was never in danger. His campaign confirmed his safety but offered no further details. In a separate incident, Trump was injured in an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania on July 13.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is safe after an incident on Sunday involving gunfire outside his Florida golf club, the New York Post reported, citing law enforcement sources. Trump's campaign had earlier confirmed his safety following gunfire in his vicinity but provided no further details.
"Sources said that Trump was never in danger," the newspaper reported. Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung declined to comment immediately.
Trump was previously injured in an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania on July 13, which happened just months ahead of the potentially highly contested Nov. 5 election against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. The shooting marked the first attack on a U.S. president or major party candidate in over four decades, prompting Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle to resign under bipartisan pressure.
