The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on the verge of a landmark third consecutive term in Haryana, securing leads in 49 of the state's assembly seats, overshadowing the Congress's revival efforts after a decade. Early celebrations in the Congress camp dwindled as results swung in favor of the BJP, as indicated by the latest Election Commission data.
Prominent victories were recorded for Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, retaining the Ladwa seat by over 16,000 votes, and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who held on to Garhi Sampla-Kiloi. However, the polls spelled disappointment for INLD's Abhay Singh Chautala, who was defeated by a substantial margin. The independents and smaller parties held minimal sway, illustrating the BJP's consolidated position.
The Aam Aadmi Party made no electoral impact, and with counting beginning at dawn under heavy security, the BJP, which had initially risen to state power on its own in 2014, demonstrated a steady hold as the vote tally progressed, thwarting earlier exit poll predictions favoring Congress.
