Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the residents of Jammu and Kashmir after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved its highest-ever vote share in the valley's assembly elections. Securing 29 seats, BJP surpassed its previous record from the 2014 elections when they won 25 seats, according to Election Commission data indicating a 25.64 percent vote share.
In a message on X, Shah expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for supporting BJP's historic performance and applauded the dedicated efforts of BJP workers. He reiterated BJP's dedication to the region's development and security under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
Shah expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of elections, attributing the success to PM Modi, and contrasting it with Congress's past electoral malpractice. He highlighted the democracy revival in Kashmir, allowing citizens to vote without fear. Shah thanked the Election Commission, state administration, and security forces for ensuring peaceful and transparent elections.
