In a significant development within the Haryana Assembly, BJP MLA Harvinder Kalyan was unanimously elected as the Speaker on Friday.
The nomination, moved by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, was seconded by BJP MLA Ranbir Gangwa. Kalyan, representing Gharaunda in Karnal district, is a seasoned politician with three terms as an MLA.
The election concluded with widespread support and congratulations from Chief Minister Saini, party MLAs, Congress members, and other legislators. Previously, Pro-tem Speaker Raghuvir Singh Kadian administered the oath of office to newly elected MLAs of the Assembly's 15th session.
