Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot voiced strong criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday, highlighting the diminished public faith in the party. Gehlot asserted that by contesting elections independently in Delhi, the Congress party has firmly positioned itself for future political engagements.
In a statement on social media platform X, Gehlot refuted AAP's allegations that Congress contributed to their electoral defeat in Delhi. He claimed that AAP's strategy has historically involved contesting elections in states to erode Congress's vote share, benefiting BJP victories in states like Gujarat, Goa, and Uttarakhand.
Reflecting on the recent Delhi elections, Gehlot emphasized Congress's role as the principal opposition and expressed confidence in the party's future electoral prospects. Meanwhile, BJP's significant victory in Delhi, securing a two-thirds majority, has left AAP with drastically reduced numbers. Other political leaders, including Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut, reiterated the need for cohesive strategies within the opposition alliance, criticizing both Congress and AAP for lack of coordination in the capital.
