The Congress party has voiced strong criticism against the BJP's decision to impose President's rule in Manipur, labeling it as an admission of failure by the ruling party both at the Center and the state. The announcement prompted Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to demand an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media platform X.
Kharge contended that the move reflects a deep constitutional crisis in Manipur, aggravated by the BJP's inability to maintain law and order during its tenure. He accused the NDA MLAs of unwillingness to take on the responsibility of leadership amidst ongoing strife.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi further condemned the delayed response of the BJP, interpreting the imposition as evidence of their inability to govern effectively. The Manipur assembly now stands under suspended animation, following the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh after prolonged ethnic violence.
