India has reiterated its commitment to handling border disputes with China bilaterally, effectively dismissing US President Donald Trump's offer to mediate. The reaffirmation came from Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri during a media briefing.
Responding to Trump's suggestion, Misri emphasized India's long-standing policy of excluding third-party involvement in its bilateral issues. According to Misri, India is committed to resolving such matters directly with China, a stance unwaveringly maintained in dealings with all neighboring countries.
Trump had extended his mediation offer following discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing recent skirmishes between India and China. Despite the US president's comments on fostering international cooperation, India remains resolute in its approach with China following the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes.
