Kremlin's Denial: No Drone Strike on Chernobyl

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied Ukrainian claims of a Russian drone strike on Chernobyl's outer protective shell. Peskov stated that Russia did not target nuclear infrastructure. He suggested the claims might be an attempt by Ukrainian officials to stall peace negotiations following a discussion between US and Russian presidents.

In a statement on Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov refuted allegations from Ukraine that Russia had launched a drone attack on the outer protective shell of the Chernobyl nuclear plant.

Peskov firmly dismissed the claims, declaring, “There is no talk about striking on nuclear infrastructure, nuclear energy facilities, any such claim isn't true, our military doesn't do that,” during a call with reporters.

He further suggested the origins of these accusations stem from within the Ukrainian government, aimed at hindering the peace negotiation process initiated after a conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
