In a dramatic turn of events at the West Bengal assembly, Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari and three other BJP members were suspended on Monday. The suspension, lasting for 30 days, comes after allegations of misconduct during the ongoing budget session.
BJP legislators reportedly descended into chaos after the Speaker, Biman Banerjee, rejected an adjournment motion related to Saraswati Puja. Tension escalated as Adhikari and colleagues stormed into the well of the House, tearing up business papers in protest.
Charging the ruling TMC with intimidation during Puja celebrations, Adhikari announced plans to boycott Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, highlighting what he perceives as suppression of their voices. The BJP also plans a dharna at the assembly gate in response.
