Shiv Sena Security Shift: Reduced Threats, Reemerging Threats

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has commented on the recent reduction in security for several party leaders who defected from the undivided Sena. He claims that the security cutbacks are due to the diminished threat from their previous adversaries, now themselves beleaguered. Despite this, Maharashtra's government had ensured ample protection for many leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, following their departure from Uddhav Thackeray's leadership.

Reflecting on the situation from 2.5 years ago, Nirupam noted the initial security concerns that arose when Eknath Shinde and a faction of Shiv Sena leaders exited the party. However, he suggests that the present circumstances have led to reassessments of those security measures. Meanwhile, Nirupam also touched upon the upcoming allocation of funds to state departments, anticipated to be addressed in the budget session starting March 3.

Amid discussions on political security, Eknath Shinde recently addressed a renewed death threat, saying such threats are not unfamiliar to him. Recalling past encounters, Shinde said he had always stood firm, even when facing previous threats during the shutdown of dance bars or from Naxalites. Notably, Shinde has been threatened via a recent email suggesting a bomb could be planted in his vehicle. Similar threats have been directed at Mantralaya and the JJ Marg Police Station. Authorities are actively investigating the origins of these threats.

Speaking to the media, Shinde conveyed a strong warning. He advised those who might underestimate him not to do so, emphasizing his commitment as a fervent follower of Balasaheb. Despite the nature of these threats, Shinde remains steadfast, vowing perseverance in his political journey.
