Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party, launched a blistering critique against the BJP-led central government on Tuesday. He pointed to the ongoing decline in Indian stock markets, asserting that it has affected middle-class investments significantly.
Yadav accused the government of deceiving the public while neglecting domestic investors. He remarked that the 'double-engine' governments prioritize attracting foreign investors over securing their citizens' investments, dubbing their events as 'deceptive'. His comments come as reports identify India's stock markets as lagging behind several emerging markets, including Thailand and the Philippines.
Yadav expressed disappointment that while a vast segment of the population relies on government ration, those who invested in stocks face bankruptcy. He called the government's actions an 'economic fraud' that must cease and suggested growing disenchantment with the BJP among investors.
