On Monday, the leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, demanded that the Lok Sabha discuss the controversial issue of voter lists, which multiple political parties have criticized.
Gandhi, raising the matter during Zero Hour, stated that the Opposition has persistently called for a debate on this topic. He acknowledged the government's stance that it does not create voter lists, but reinforced the demand for a discussion due to nationwide concerns.
Trinamool Congress member Saugata Roy specifically highlighted flaws in voter lists, citing West Bengal and Haryana cases of duplicate EPIC numbers. Roy called for a comprehensive revision of voter lists ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections, emphasizing the need for the Election Commission to clarify the discrepancies.
