The Trinamool Congress has voiced concerns over the alleged 'faulty' voter lists, questioning the Election Commission's ability to conduct transparent elections. Kalyan Banerjee, speaking in the Lok Sabha, criticized the poll body for its failure over recent years.
According to Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was the first to highlight discrepancies such as duplicate voter cards. He pointed to the Election Commission's explanations as breaches against the Conduct of Election Rules.
The Trinamool Congress has continued to pressure the Election Commission, who promised to address the issue of duplicate Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) numbers in three months. The commission, however, denies any manipulation, asserting that other voter details differ despite identical EPIC numbers.
