On Monday, the West Bengal Assembly descended into chaos when Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay made the controversial decision to turn off the microphone of BJP MLA Hiran Chatterjee, who had raised questions about the West Bengal Public Service Commission during a budget discussion.
Chatterjee's persistent questioning led to his comments being expunged and prompted a protest from fellow BJP MLAs, resulting in the suspension of Dipak Barman and the eviction of two other legislators from the House.
The session concluded with BJP legislators staging a walkout, accusing the Speaker of bias and the ruling Trinamool Congress of stifling dissent, while TMC members argued the Speaker acted to maintain legislative order.
