Stage Collapse Mars Protest Against BJP's Anti-Farmer Policies

A stage collapse during a Congress protest in Bhopal injured over a dozen people, including senior leaders. The protest aimed to highlight the BJP government's anti-farmer policies in Madhya Pradesh. Despite the setback, the Congress vowed to continue protesting until farmers receive adequate compensation.

On Monday, during the Madhya Pradesh assembly's Budget Session, a stage collapsed injuring more than a dozen individuals, including senior Congress leaders. The event, held to protest the BJP government's alleged anti-farmer policies, took place near Rangmahal Square in Bhopal, according to party MLA Jaivardhan Singh.

Among the injured were senior figures like MP Kisan Congress president Dharmendra Singh Chauhan and state unit general secretary Roshani Yadav. Congress spokesperson Abhinav Barolia reported that five women and several with serious injuries were among those affected. Overcrowding might have caused the stage collapse, said Barolia, as they investigate the incident.

The protest march to the assembly complex was halted by police deploying water cannons, as stated by Bhopal Zone 1 Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rashmi Agarwal Dubey. Congress leaders, including MP Congress chief Jitu Patwari, remain committed to continuing demonstrations until they achieve satisfactory outcomes for the farmers.
