Pictures of UP CM Spark Protest at Nepali Rally
In Nepal, controversy erupted when images of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were displayed at a rally for ex-king Gyanendra Shah, sparking criticism from political factions. The pro-monarchist rally aimed to advocate for monarchy reinstatement, but backlash ensued, with allegations of government interference.
A contentious situation unfolded in Nepal when images of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were shown at a pro-monarchist rally intended to welcome former king Gyanendra Shah. This has led to significant criticism from various political groups and citizens on social media.
As Gyanendra arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport from Pokhara, monarchist supporters began voicing their support for reinstating the monarchy, abolished in 2008. However, the inclusion of Adityanath's image alongside Gyanendra's was perceived as controversial.
RPP spokesperson Gyanendra Shahi accused the government of orchestrating the image's inclusion to smear the pro-monarchy effort, a claim refuted by government advisor Bishnu Rimal. The debate reflects ongoing tensions related to former king Gyanendra's support.
