In defense, BJP Minister Rabi Narayan Naik stated the adjustment aligns with national observance practices and was not intended to dishonor Patnaik. The debate intensified, culminating in a walkout by BJD members as accusations of exploiting Patnaik's legacy for political gains were exchanged.
