In a recent development, Albania has been acknowledged for its stellar progress in regional cooperation as part of its negotiations for European Union membership. Marta Kos, the EU's enlargement commissioner, lauded Albania as a 'champion' during her visit to the Albanian capital, Tirana, underscoring the EU's continued support for Albania's integration efforts.
This acknowledgment comes as Albania's parliament prepares to ratify documents that will release significant EU growth funds, aiding the country's alignment with EU standards. The EU began full membership negotiations with Albania in 2020, focusing on rule of law and democratic reforms.
While Albania aims to finalize the EU negotiation process by 2027 and join the bloc by 2030, its compliance with the EU's security and foreign policy is assured. Kos emphasized the need for implementing key reforms and maintained optimism that upcoming elections would not hinder the progress towards EU accession.
