The clash occurred despite the deployment of around 2,400 police officers, who turned the assembly vicinity into a secured area. Protesters breached the initial barricades, prompting police to resort to lathi charges, tear gas, and water cannons. The Congress accused the police of excessive force, while the BJP called for strict action against the attackers.

As tempers flared, additional injuries were reported, including a TV journalist. The Congress blamed the ruling BJP, alleging a conspiracy to sabotage their rally. Meanwhile, a hospital visit by state officials underscored the tension as both sides maintained claims of unjust treatment and political maneuvering.
