The Congress has voiced strong criticism against the Indian government after US President Donald Trump's announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Speaking at a press conference, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot asserted that the government's decision has led to the loss of its moral authority.
Gehlot accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to placate public sentiment with nationwide 'Tiranga Yatras' following what he termed a sudden halt in military action. He emphasized that the Indian armed forces were gaining momentum and could have effectively countered Pakistan's harboring of terrorist camps.
The Congress leader called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify his stance on purported US mediation claims over the Kashmir issue, asking whether the government was under any US pressure. Gehlot reiterated the demand for a Parliament session to discuss the ceasefire's implications and pressed for a transparent governmental approach.
