Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred with Ghana's highest national honor, 'The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana,' acknowledging his distinguished statesmanship and global influence. The accolade was presented by Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, marking a significant affirmation of Modi's global leadership.
In an acceptance speech, Modi expressed pride and humbly accepted the award on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, dedicating it to the youths of both nations and the shared cultural heritage and historical ties between India and Ghana. He emphasized the honor also serves as a responsibility to foster stronger India-Ghana relations.
The Ministry of External Affairs noted the award deepens the friendship between the nations. Following wide-ranging talks with President Mahama, both countries elevated their connection to a comprehensive partnership. Modi's visit, the first by an Indian prime minister in three decades, is seen as historic and pivotal in furthering bilateral cooperation.
