Uttarakhand Women Congress Takes Stand Against Rising Crimes

The Uttarakhand Pradesh Mahila Congress has raised serious allegations about the increasing crimes against women nationwide, staging a protest against the perceived inaction of the BJP and calling for a change in leadership to protect women.

Under the leadership of President Jyoti Rautela, members of the Mahila Congress aimed to express their grievances at the Raj Bhawan but were halted by police forces at Hathi Barkala Chowk. Their demonstration involved chanting slogans and holding signs critical of both the central and state governments.

The protest comes in the wake of alarming statistics from the NCRB, cited by Rautela, indicating that 4.51 lakh women experienced rape or atrocities in a single year, with Uttarakhand highlighted as a state with disturbingly high figures in crimes against women. The protestors were briefly detained for attempting to breach police barricades.
